The Truck Stops Here

In and of itself, the food truck craze is a good thing—it offers variety and competition. But it also poses a problem for restaurants, especially if trucks park in front of them. As a result, cities have come up with ordinances keeping the trucks at least 200 yards away. Some even further. But in some cases, the trucks can only stop to serve food—otherwise they’ve got to keep on moving. In other cases, they can only remain in one location for a short time, then move on to another spot, posing difficulties for their customers. The owner of one fixed establishment in D.C. describes the trucks across his place as poachers. In short, this could get ugly.
