In last night’s episode of Top Chef Texas, Keith Rhodes became the first contestant to be officially eliminated because he purchased precooked shrimp. Or so it seemed. In a phone interview, Keith explains it was less about the shrimp and more about the flour versus corn tortilla—and guest judge Johnny Hernandez who was definitely not a fan of the flour tortillas used in the enchilada. “Who?” said Keith about the San Antonio chef. “You have one restaurant. How did you even get on Top Chef?” Rhodes would have eliminated Lindsay Autry and Sarah Grueneberg instead. For more on the episode and Keith Rhodes’s exit interview, click here.
