Over at weeklystandard.com I note the Washington Post‘s endorsement of Eileen Filler-Corn for the Virginia House of Delegates. It’s a rather distracting name though imagine if her name were Amanda Filler-Corn (and imagine she were to marry a fellow whose last name was Hoal)? I was then reminded of Dick Swett, who ran for Senate in New Hampshire back in 1996. A colleague mentioned to me Staciana Stitts, who swam the breaststroke in the Olympics. And of course there’s Richard Bradley who not long ago wrote under the name Richard Blow. And just for fun I threw in mention of Haywood Jablome, who continues to stir up trouble in the press (and make fools of reporters).
