If I Were a Doorman

Upper East Side doorman Chamil Demiraj recently inherited half a million dollars from one of his late tenants, music mogul Alan Meltzer. But as I mentioned over at weeklystandard.com, some doormen already earn upper-five- to low-six-figure incomes (and with cash tips, much of it tax-free).

Meltzer gave his chauffeur $1 million (I can only imagine what a driver for a music mogul must have seen over the years). The ex-wife, on the other hand, apparently received nothing, which explains her attitude:

“He can leave it to whoever he wants to,” Diana sniffed to The Post of her lost fortune. “I’m doing fine. I could care less.

“If he wants to give it to the bums, he can give it to the bums. He could f—k a nun. I couldn’t give a s—t. He can give his money to whoever he wants. We’re divorced. The man is dead.”

I’m so glad she doesn’t care.
