Friend Kenneth Killiany sends over this photo of Thick & Beefy frozen hamburger patties. Note the logo: “PHILLY-GOURMET 100% PURE BEEF HOMESTYLE PATTIES.” Philly-Gourmet? I love Philadelphia Cheesesteaks the way I love Schiano’s Pizza whenever I go back to Toms River, New Jersey. But I wouldn’t necessarily call it gourmet—nor would I want to (there are enough places in D.C. that serve gourmet pizzas with broccoli, craisins, and smoked Gouda). Yes, I know Philly’s got Le Bec-Fin, etc., but I don’t think this is what Thick & Beefy had in mind.
